I work at pharmacy board shop
I work at pharmacy board shop, and it’s
really amazing to see the trends in different people. I feel, that as of right
now the whole Krew, Emerica, and Baker scheme is all the rage, kids go nuts over
this stuff. Then of course you have the LRG and Nike trend going on. Personally,
I would not pay as much as some people do for this stuff. It’s kind of
outrageous to tell you the truth.
I think the future of all skating is the little kids that come in with no
money, looking for any little thing we have. Maybe some wheels or a cracked
deck. They don’t care; as long as they can go home and skate they’re happy.
It also amuses me to see the kids that come and buy a new pro deck for like
50 bucks, then ill see them two or three days later with a snapped pro deck. I
always like to ask how people break they’re boards and with these kids it’s
always the same.” Oh I couldn’t tre flip this gap so I snapped my board”. I
usually ask them.” Do you know how happy the little kids would have been with
this deck?” Of coarse they don’t care, because obviously they aren’t having fun
skating.
You should be able to not have good day skating, and still have good time.
That’s what it’s all about. I can skate a parking block for hours and still have
a good time. I always see kids just trying to get sponsored, worrying about the
tricks you need to learn, and staying up on the latest trends. It’s kind of sad
to see what has become of skating. I really think we should all have our own
style, and be able to skate stupid stuff and have a good time.
I’m also a photographer, and I’ve come to find that the I’ll take better
pictures if the skater is having a good time, it brings me down to see someone
throwing they’re board around or yelling at a crack, and it really shows in the
pictures when people are angry skating. Stiff legs and arms, it just looks
nasty.
So next time you visit your local skate shop, look for originals. Not the
ones everyone has already. You’ll still fit in with your friends; you’ll still
skate just as good, and you’ll also feel better that your not just another face.
